WHAT IF RAFFLES HAD NOT FOUNDED SINGAPORE?

ACTIVITY TIME

We are fully aware that in historical reality, Sir Thomas Stamford Raffles founded Singapore in the year 1819. Taking into consideration the historical background at that time, comment on what you think would have happened to Singapore if Raffles had not founded the country.

I think that Singapore would be a Fishing village until Lee Kuan Yew's arrival to Singapore. Maybe, he would want to change Singapore's life when he was in his twenties, and also he would reorganised Singapore just as what Sir Stamford Raffles does. Reasons for me saying this is Lee Kuan Yew is an ambitious guy, he would want to turn Singapore over to become a successful country al around the world, just like what he does when he was young, forming PAP, and etc, if Raffles did not founded Singapore, Singapore would be a fishing village for a few years, and then when Lee Kuan Yew being born, he would do even more to contribute, as well as making Singapore a prosperous Country ever, Raffles' arrival to Singapore, is just giving Lee Kuan Yew a based to helped him to make the country prosperous after years. S if Raffle's did not found Singapore, Lee Kuan Yew needed to do a lot of work to get Singapore built up, to become not just only a fishing port, but also a high technology country!

If Raffles had not found singapore what will happen?
Maybe till now Singapore is not found? Or maybe singapore is found by other people found singapore will singapore still be so successful?
Will the outcome be different? Will Singapore still be like now? Better Education better jobs? Maybe Yes Maybe No. This is the answer that we will never know. If Raffles have not found singapore maybe we a still a small fishing village. Singapore? Nobody know about it. "What? Singapore. what country is it? Never heard before. This is what is going to happen. The population of the people might not be the same. There will not be immigrants in singapore during raffles time. And all the history that we re studying are gone? The whole history of singapore are gone :(. Can you image what will happen?

If Raffles had not founded Singapore , Singapore would probably still be an undeveloped country. Singapore wouldn't be having any tall buildings or shopping malls. It might still be an old fishing village from long ago. Singapore wouldn't as modern as it is now. :(

  6. I think that Singapore would have been an unknown country if Raffles had not founded the country. Singapore is a really small country as it was always known as the 'Little Red Dot'. Having Raffles founded Singapore, it is currently a thriving country and has a good economy, and without Singapore, many foreigners would not be able to come here to work and to earn more money.

  7. If Raffles hadn't founded singapore, our country wouldn't be what it is today. It does not take one man to make it great, like how Lee Kwan Yew made modern day singapore, but it must take a good foundation to build a country on. Singapore had a founder and his name is Sir Stamford Raffles.
Without him our country would not be developed or as good as what it is now.

  8. If Raffles had not founded Singapore, Singapore will not be known to the world. Singapore will not develop into a bustling and modern city from a fishing port. S2/7 (6) Valerie

If Raffles had not found Singapore, we would not have many shopping malls, places of interest such as sentosa, botanic gardens and many other things like advanced technology and maybe no jobs at all

  15. If Raffles had not found Singapore, Singapore will not be known to the world. Having Raffles discovered Singapore and set up a trading settlement in Singapore. Singapore began to attract many traders and has then developed from a fishing port into a bustling country. 2/7-06

  18. If Raffles had not founded Singapore, i think that Singapore would still be a sleepy village. If not for his efforts, Singapore wouldn't be as successful as today. Raffles had contributed a lot of his thoughts and efforts to Singapore and that's why Singapore today is a very successful country.

  19. If Raffles had not found Singapore , Singapore would not have been a developed country like having tall building, business and traders coming to Singapore to trade. If he did not found Singapore , Singapore would be a unknown country and no one would come trade and start business.

  20. If raffles hadn't founded Singapore, both the parties, 'Singapore and Sir Raffles himself' would not gain anything. Last time, Singapore was just a small fishing village where people dare not even think that this small fishing village would grow to become a thriving country. Raffles has put in thought of Singapore's location. If he did not put into consideration of the fact that the location of the island is good and suitable to build a trading port, nobody else would have done it and Singapore would just remain as a small fishing village where hopes are small. Without Sir Raffles, Foreiners too would not gain anything or earn any money from trading. Without his contributions and high knowledge, numerous people would not be what they are today and I won't be here projecting my thoughts.

  21. Raffles has done Singapore well-developed and prosper to a certain extend. From a fishing village to the buzzing city, he has done a great job to bring Singaporeans together and not only that. From one being an orang laut to different occupations now, there are difinitely credits for Raffles.
