World War II in Asia ended with the dropping of two atomic bombs over Japan, in Hiroshima and Nagasaki on 6 and 9 August, 1945. American President Harry S. Truman deemed it as a necessary act to protect the Americans at war in the Pacific.

ACTIVITY
Seeing the effects of the Atomic Bomb on the Japanese people, do you think that US president, Harry S. Truman's decision to drop the A-bomb on Japan was justified?
Write your comments in the box below.
Yes, the government of the United States of American wanted to take revenge on the Japanese. As the people had suffered great misery under the Japanese rule during World War II. (2/8-02)
ReplyDeleteYes. It is. if the Americans had not dropped the A-bomb on Japan. Then, the war would still continue in the pacific regions. However. when the Americans dropped the bomb. Innocent people were killed because of it.
ReplyDeleteThe decision was justified, as it put an end to World War II. However, the decision made by Harry.s Truman had many consequences and had led to the atomic bomb wiping out thousands of lives and many injured. It was a sad tragedy that came with the decision made.

ReplyDeleteAlthough the bomb did good on many other countries like Singapore, it did not have a positive effect on the Japanese,Because of the bomb, many japanese died due to the radiation and many died later on due to radiation related causes. The radiation also caused the newborn children to be mutated and deformed in many ways.Hoever, if the Americans had not dropped the bomb on Japan, the war would still continue and the Japanese would have still treated some of the races cruelly with sadistic methods of torture.
Many people had lost their lives in seconds, not knowing that had hit Hiroshima and Nagasaki. It was the saddest tradegy that Japan had to face. Clearing up the mess made by the atomic bomb required man-power, energy and cost to build up Japan again.

ReplyDeleteI dont think what the US President,Harry S.Truman's did was justified. This is because dropping the Atomic bomb over Japan would make the Japanese even more angry and the Japanese soldiers would be ordered to destroy Singapore even more. I think that the US President should not have gotten involved.
Yes, i think president Harry S. Truman's decision to stop the A-bomb on Japan was justifiable as he probably didn't want the war to go on for a long time and he even cares for the world and wants to end the torture that the people were going through. This is evident in, 'World war 2 ended with the dropping of two atomic bombs over Japan.'

ReplyDeleteI think that the atomic bomb was released by the Americans toward Nagasaki and Hiroshima because the Americans were on Singapore's side and the Japanese had caused alot of trouble to Singaporeans. The atomic bombs destroyed a huge area of the cities and also killed alot of people. The Americans felt that the Japanese should also deserved something themselves and therefore they threw an atomic bomb towards Japanese.
Yes it is justified as the people were healed after the chaos. Some were bandaged and was taken care off.

ReplyDeleteNo, the US president, Harry S. Truman's decision to drop the A-bomb on Japan was not justified as it will killed a lot of people and destroy a lot of buildings.

ReplyDeletethe bomb is justified. If the US prsident did not make a decision to drop the bomb, the Japanese will never surrender . The Japanese surrender because they were afraid about the saftyness to Japan. After the bomb drop, many weird effect took place some of them are: ear droopping, skin peeling and death.

ReplyDeleteyes. it is justified. this is beacuse if the US president did not drop the a-bomb on japan, the japanese would not surrender to singapore as the japanese are very stubborn people in the past. the japanese fianlly surrendered because if they did not surrender, the people of japan will suffered because even though after weeks, the radaiotion of the bomb was still causing harm to the people. the japanese military also argued with the emperor and they were worry that they will drop another bomb in tokyo. thus the US presediant who dropped the bomb is justified.

ReplyDeleteSeeing the effects of the Atomic Bomb on the Japanese people, I think that the US president, Harry S. Truman's decision to drop the A-bomb on Japan was not justified. According to the people, the US president made the right decision to drop the Atomic Bomb on the Japanese people, however, others felt that it was very cruel and selfish to kill the innocent people. The A-bomb destroyed many people and buildings.
Yes. As most of the people were being tortured and innocently killed under the Japanese rule.
ReplyDeleteThe president of the United States of America decided to drop the bomb on Japan to take revenge for their people. (2/8-15)
Yes it was justified because if the US never bombed Japan the Japanese will never surrender.

ReplyDeleteI think that the US president's decision to drop the A-bomb on Japan is justified. Although people in Japan were injured badly and most were killed, this unexpected experience indeed made the Japanese took aback. The effects of the bomb was great as buildings collasped, people were burnt and most of the Japanese lost their homes due to the A-bomb. This bomb did not let the Japanese to take revenge as they knew that if they were to agitate the Americans once again, Tokoyo would be affected and the Japan's economy would also be greatly affected. As the Japanese did not want such situation to happen, they still firm and did not take any action. After all, the Japanese cared alot about pride so soon later, they surrendered.

ReplyDeleteSeeing the effects of the Atomic bomb on the Japanese people, the US president, Harry S. Truman's decision to drop the A-bomb on Japan was I think was not justified. According to the people the president was right to drop the bomb onto Japan, whereas others think it was too cruel and deadly just killing innocent people for the sake for their revenge. The A-bomb was what the president had expected it to be. That one bomb destroyed a huge amount of buildings and peopel in just a blink of an eye. Hence, the president did not choose his decision wisely.
Yes, i think that the decision is justified because of the bomb Japan dropped in US. The american dropped the bomb for revenge and also to protect their people.
ReplyDelete2/8-17
Yes. Indeed i think that i was justified.Even though these bombs had a great impact on Japan, i think they sure do deserve it. For all the suffering and pain the Japanese caused, this put them in their place.
ReplyDelete2/7(12)
yes. i feel that was he did was justifying because what he did taught the japanese to not be so full of themselves and can actually feel what is like to be one of the victims.

ReplyDeleteYes, i think that the decision of bombing Japan was justified. If the US hadn't bombed Japan, they would not have surrended to them.
I think that the dropping of bomb by the US was unjustified. To me I think that it was an immature act by the US. What the japanese done, had been done. many Japanese was killed due the war. Even though the US got their revenge, many people would had died because of the bomb. The video was showing innocent children eating when the bomb was dropped. This then killed many of them. Therefore I think that I was the wrong the to do and the US actions would not be justified.
ReplyDeleteSec 2/7-21
Somehow its justified but I don't think it solves the problem because it doesn't spread peace and it results into more grudges and hatred. Its possible that maybe the Japanese still harbour hatred until now.The atomic bomb had really done much damage to parts of Japan which is certainly very horrible.
ReplyDelete2/7-26
Yes, I think the decision is justified. Although the Japanese people were badly injured and some died , it cannot be compared with the number of singaporean that died and was tortured in the sook ching process. The Japanese will also not apologise if the bomb was not dropped. Therefore, i think that the decision is justified.
ReplyDelete2/7-29
Yes, i think that the decision is justified as it saved thousands of lives by ending the war. And the US president, Harry S. Truman's decision of the bomb was to protect the Americans at war in the Pacific and it did. Even though it killed innocent people in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the bomb ended the war. (2/7-13)
ReplyDeleteYes, I think that the decision is justified as Japan actually dropped more bombs in other countries in Asia. It's like a tic for a tac situation so perhaps its justified but does not really solve the problem as it may create more problem and peace may not flourish still.

ReplyDeleteI do not think it was justified. The bomb killed many innocent people and even though the resaon why the president dropped the bombs may have been very important, he should have taken into condsideration the consequences of dropping the bomb before doing it and he should have settled it with the Japanese government instead of doing such harmful things to hiroshima.
2/7-33
ReplyDeleteYes I think that he was justified as he ended the war eventhough it killed thousands of people at first.
Yes , because the japanese killed many innocent people when they went for war . The bomb was dropped so that to protect the citizens of America . Although the bomb was dropped to protect the American , people from other countries like Singapore were being protected because the Japanese surrended after the bomb was dropped .
ReplyDelete2/7 - 35
Yes , i think it was a justified act because if the the bomb was not dropped , the japanese would not surrender and would have killed many people .

ReplyDeletei do not think it was justified because the US president should have taken in condsideration the consequences of dropping the bomb before taking action.
Yes I find it justified as Japan caused damage to us and the Americans wants justice and thus drop the bomb, it also had a negative effect as innocent lives were killed and some were mutated as a newborn child. The Japan soldiers were not even in Japan when they bombed it, I think the Japanese deserved it for damaging Singapore and its lives.
ReplyDelete2/7-17
I think it is justified. If it was not for what the American president have done, world war 2 might still be happening now. Thus, I feel that it is sooner or later that a country would step forward and take action against the Japanese to put a stop to all of this.
ReplyDelete2/7 (7)
Yes, i think that the decision made by the US president is justified. Even though by dropping the atomic bomb in Japan has killed and injured many people, it has helped the British get revenge on the Japanese for all the mess that they have caused before.
ReplyDelete2/7-14
Yes i think that his decision was justified necause if he did not drop the bomb the Japanese would have stayed in Singapore and controlled Singapore. however, Harry S. Truman dropped a bomb in Japan that made the Japanese worried hence surrendered Singapore.
ReplyDelete2/7-18
I think that the decision is only partially justified as the president need not drop 2 bombs just to stop the war.The war might have already stopped after the first bomb was drop. Dropping two bombs would kill many innocent lives compared to just dropping one bomb. The president could have just threatened the Japanese if they did not want to stop the war. By dropping two bombs, the effects of the nuclear bomb would last longer and affect pregnant women and their innocent babies. Therefore, I think that the decision is partially justified.
ReplyDelete2/7 (32)
Yes i do think that the decision is justified as the Americans were the first to bomb to make the Japanese scared and therefore would surrender.they made this plan to make the Japanese surrender. Therefore, i think that the decision was justified.
ReplyDelete2/7-06
I think that the decision to drop the bomb on Japan was a good and bad choice. It was a good choice only because it stop the Japanese from killing more people and it also kiled alot of Japanese soliders, thus it stop the Japanese from killing more innocent lives, I think that this bomb woke the Japanese up and made them learn a lesson and stop them from getting cocky. In contrast, I also think that it was a bad choice because when the Americans drop the bomb they also killed a lot of innocent lives, a lot of children and adult died just because of what the japanese soilders did. 2/7-03
ReplyDeleteYes, i think that the decision that Harry S. Truman made were justified. The US president wanted to protect their own people and these two bombs has ended the war and has saved many lives.
ReplyDelete2/7-28
Yes, I do think that the decision is justified as the US probably wanted to end the war for once and for all. I think he doesn't want the world to go through anymore torture. Hence, the decison being justified was a good way yet harsh way to end it all.

ReplyDeleteYes i think that the decision is justified. It is for revenge and the protection of people. It is only equal if one did the same to the other. Therefore i feel that is decision is not all bad.
I agree to a certain extent. I feel that one bomb is enough and it is not a need for two bombs. I feel that the children in Japan were innocent and they did not know anything about this war. Therefore,I agree to some extent.
ReplyDeleteSec 2/7 (16)
Yes i think that the decision is justified. As it stop Japanese from killing innocent people and stop the war. However by dropping 2 bombs it also killed innocent people in Japen who did nothing. Therefore i think they could just stop with one bomb.
